Causes and symptoms of abdominal abscesses

Posted on November 2nd, 2011 No Comments

Abdominal abscesses can occur in people who have experienced hernias in the abdomen and used a mesh graft to correct it. These surgical mesh grafts, including AlloDerm, can be the cause of abdominal abscesses.

Abdominal abscesses are pouches of fluid that are enclosed inside the abdominal cavity. Abscesses can also be a direct result of dirty equipment used in surgery.

Although most abdominal abscesses aren’t life threatening, they usually require surgery to fix. Catheters can be used to drain the pouches in some instances.

Symptoms of these abscesses can include diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain and swelling. These complications cause unnecessary pain.

If you have experienced an abdominal abscess as a result of using an AlloDerm product, please contact the AlloDerm lawyers of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187 today.
