High Failure Rate in AlloDerm Procedures

Posted on April 8th, 2011 No Comments

AlloDerm surgical grafts are used in a variety of procedures, from skin grafts to hernia repair, but the products have a very high failure rate.

Recent studies show that the use of AlloDerm in hernia repair surgeries has very high failure rates when there is “long-term follow-up,” meaning longer than one year. The failure of the processed human tissue product can result in a number of complications including: infections at the implant site, pain and soreness, abscesses or inflammation.

AlloDerm is a product derived from donated human tissue. The product was developed and manufactured by LifeCell Corporation. AlloDerm is created through the processing of human cadaver dermal tissue. The living cells are removed from the tissue and the structural components of the skin (elastin, collagen, etc.) remain intact.

If you have been harmed by an AlloDerm failure, please contact the AlloDerm Failure Lawyers of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187.
