Transvaginal mesh lawsuits on the rise, FDA issues stronger warning

Posted on October 28th, 2011 No Comments

The surgical mesh that is used in situations dealing with pelvic organ prolapse is being re-evaluated by the FDA. Transvaginal mesh has been the center of numerous lawsuits as of late due to it’s serious complications that result from it’s use.

The majority of side effects have developed from the complaint of vaginal mesh erosion. This side effect occurs when the tissue of the skin splits apart, giving the mesh the opportunity to enter the vagina. This intrusion can cause bleeding, severe pain and trouble urinating. Other side effects from transvaginal mesh include infection, pain during sex and lower back problems.

The FDA was required to issue a stronger warning towards the surgical mesh to bring light to the serious side effects.

If you have experienced serious side effects due to the use of transvaginal mesh, please contact the AlloDerm attorneys of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187 today.
