What is a hernia?

Posted on June 29th, 2012 No Comments

A hernia is a condition that involve protruding intestines through a specific part of a person’s abdominal lining. These intestinal parts are pushed through the abdominal lining after a tear in the lining is experienced.

Hernias can occur due to a muscle strain, heavy lifting, or just during an average daily activity. The pain associated with hernias varies widely, from severe pain to no pain at all. There are four types of common hernias that occur in the abdominal lining. These hernias include incisional, umbilical, inguinal, and femoral.

Those specific types of hernias are often associated with large amounts of pain, and require surgery to fix. Hernia repair surgeries can result in serious complications when surgical mesh products are used. It is important to understand the risks associated with these surgeries before undergoing a procedure.

If a hernia repair surgery has left you with complications, please contact the AlloDerm lawsuit lawyers of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187 today.
