What is a Staphylococcal infection?

Posted on August 26th, 2011 No Comments

Staphylococcal is a form of bacteria that can pose serious health risks due to infections

that form in an individual.

Staph infections are usually found on the skin and in the nose of a person. Although anyone can develop a staph infection, people with lung disease, diabetes, or cancer, women who breastfeed, and newborn infants are at a greater risk.

Staph is commonly transmitted through contact with a personal care item or direct contact with an infected sore. The area of skin affected by staph will most likely swell, collect pus, and turn red. The infection can result in complications including septic arthritis, osteomyelitis, necrotizing pneumonia, and acute infective endocarditis.

Staph infections are a possible complication arising from a hernia repair surgery involving the AlloDerm hernia patch. If you or someone you know has experienced this side effect, you may be eligible for compensation for your pain and suffering.
