What is an Abscess?

Posted on March 4th, 2011 No Comments

An abscess forms when a collection of fluid, pus, and bacteria begins to pool in an area of the body.

Abscesses may occur in any kind of solid tissue, but are found most frequently on skin surface.

If an abscess forms at a surgical incision site, it is indicative of an infection. In a hernia repair procedure the abscess may form inside the body and can be more difficult to detect. Commonly abscess are accompanied by a number of symptoms including:

– Redness

– Heat

– Swelling

– Acute Pain

– Loss of function

If you believe you have developed an abscess after undergoing a hernia repair surgery, you may be entitled to financial compensation. For more information on hernia patch infection lawsuits, please contact the AlloDerm Lawsuit Attorneys of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187.
