AlloDerm Hernia Patch Associated with Multiple Surgeries

Posted on July 15th, 2011 No Comments

The AlloDerm hernia repair skin graft matrices have been linked to an increased need for secondary procedures.

According to a recent study, approximately eight percent of patients who received an AlloDerm mesh patch in a hernia repair operation required an explants procedure, or a second surgery. While explants surgeries are not unheard of with all skin graft matrices, the AlloDerm mesh patch appears to be linked with an increased risk of such procedures.

In a control group of patients, who received non-AlloDerm repair patches, only two percent required secondary procedures.

This AlloDerm skin graft requires, on average, four times as many secondary procedures as other similar products. A number of adverse side effects have been associated with AlloDerm grafts, including:

– Bruising

– Abcess Development

– Infection

– Swelling

– Graft Rejection

If you have been injured by a defective AlloDerm hernia repair patch, you may be entitled to compensation. To discuss your case with an AlloDerm Lawsuit Attorney, please contact Williams Hart by calling 800-761-3187.
