Femoral Hernias

A femoral hernia is one of two kinds of hernia that develop in the groin area. Unlike the inguinal hernia, the femoral hernia occurs below the inguinal ligament. They usually form in the upper thigh, where a muscle wall weakens, allowing the lower abdominal organs to protrude through a tear in the muscle. The femoral hernia generally shows no symptoms except for a pain in the groin when standing up or doing heavy lifting. If the hernia is small enough, a doctor will usually close it with sutures. However, if the hernia is too large, a graft product, like AlloDerm may be used.

Unfortunately, AlloDerm has recently been linked to the occurrence of dangerous side effects. If you or someone you love had a hernia repair surgery using AlloDerm and then suffered from infection, an abscess, hernia recurrence, or other painful side effects, you could be entitled to compensation. Do not hesitate to contact the AlloDerm lawsuit attorneys of Williams Hart by calling 800-761-3187 today.

Causes of Femoral Hernias

A femoral hernia has several possible causes and worsening factors, including:

  • Chronic cough
  • Long-term constipation or straining to urinate
  • Being overweight or obese
  • Smoking
  • Overexerting one’s self to do heavy lifting

People rely on hernia repair surgeries to end their pain and suffering. It can be emotionally and physically trying to experience hernia recurrence or painful side effects after the surgery, and this is the unfortunate reality with which many patients must cope after receiving an AlloDerm patch.
