Inguinal Hernias

An inguinal hernia is one of two types of hernias that occur in the groin area. It occurs above the inguinal ligament when the intestines protrude out of a hole in the weakened muscle wall between the intestines and the groin. The characteristic symptom of an inguinal hernia is a bulge in the groin that can be seen externally. If the tear is small enough, it can be closed with sutures. If it is too large, however, a skin graft product, like AlloDerm, may be used to patch the hole.

Unfortunately, AlloDerm has recently been linked to the occurrence of dangerous and potentially deadly side effects. If you or a loved one received an AlloDerm skin graft patch in a hernia repair surgery and suffered hernia recurrence, infection, an abscess, or other painful side effects, you may be entitled to compensation. Please contact the AlloDerm lawsuit attorneys at Williams Hart today by calling 800-761-3187 to learn more about your legal rights and options.

Causes of Inguinal Hernias

An inguinal hernia has many potential causes and exacerbating factors, including:

  • Problems at birth
  • Chronic coughing
  • Obesity
  • Chronic straining to urinate
  • Chronic straining to have a bowel movement (usually from an enlarged prostate)

After having a hernia repair surgery, the last thing someone wants is to suffer recurrence or painful complications from the procedure. Unfortunately, dangerous medical products, like the AlloDerm skin graft, may cause these side effects.
