Mosquito nets used for hernia repair surgeries

Posted on December 30th, 2011 No Comments

A study, conducted by surgeons associated with Operation Hernia, has found that mosquito net mesh can be used in hernia repair surgeries for a much cheaper price, making it more affordable.

A single mosquito net costs $15 and equates to mesh patches that could be used in 3,000 operations. This cost effective method can be used in third-world countries. Mosquito net mesh has already been used in hernia repair surgeries but surgeons were still skeptical about the cleanliness of the material.

The results from the study showed that a chemical sterilization process made the mosquito net mesh the same quality as medical surgical mesh. There were 2,000 individuals that the mesh was used on and of that number there were only 2 people who suffered from complications.

It is common for the material, AlloDerm, to be used in hernia repair surgeries. Recently, this surgical mesh has been linked to numerous side effects. If you have suffered a side effect due to the use of AlloDerm, please contact the AlloDerm lawsuit lawyers of Williams Hart by calling 800-761-3187 today.
