What is AlloDerm?

Posted on October 15th, 2010 No Comments

Alloderm is a type of skin graft, but is different then traditional skin graft because it is made from skin tissue harvested from a cadaver. The process was created so that the body would not reject the skin graft because it removes the outer layer of the skin, the living skin cells.

Alloderm has been commonly used for hernia repairs and breast reconstruction surgeries and the company that produces it is called LifeCell.

Recently, lawsuits have been filed after patients experienced complications with the Alloderm hernia patch surgery. Even though the risk of graft rejection is less with AlloDerm there have still been cases which have required additional surgery.

If you or a loved one has suffered medical complications after a surgery using Alloderm, contact the AlloDerm lawyers of Williams Kherkher by calling 800-761-3187 today.
